STAR TREK 11 MOVIE ANNOUNCED
Sources at Paramount have confirmed that development has begun on the 11th movie in the Star Trek franchise.
While no date has been set for production to commence, a 2008 release is planned, and the movie will be set around the early meeting of Kirk and Spock and their first mission in space.
JJ Abrams, director of the upcoming Mission Impossible 3, is set to produce and direct the movie.

JAMES DOOHAN: March 3, 1920 - July 20, 2005
James Doohan, who played Scotty in the original Star Trek series, has died at the age of 85.
Cause of death was pneumonia, complicated by Alzheimer's disease.

STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE CANCELLED
US television network UPN and Paramount Television have confirmed that Star Trek:
Enterprise is to end after its fourth series, which is currently airing in the
US and premieres in the UK on 8th March. Many believe this will be
the end of the Star Trek franchise entirely.
The network blamed the decision on poor viewing figures during the show’s four years.

PERPETUAL ENTERTAINMENT TO DEVELOP “STAR TREK ONLINE” MMOG
Following on from Activision’s termination of its licensing agreement with them, Viacom
have commissioned Perpetual Entertainment to design, develop and publish a
massively multiplayer online game based on the Star Trek franchise.
Provisionally titled “Star Trek Online”, the game should be available for
public beta testing in 2006, with the full release scheduled for early 2007.

ACTIVISION TERMINATES STAR TREK
LICENSING AGREEMENT
Activision Inc. has terminated its agreement to produce Star Trek related games, and is
suing Viacom for breaching its contract by not continuing to market the Star
Trek franchise as it agreed in 1998. Activision also claims Viacom has informed
them it has no plans to release any further Star Trek movies, an essential
factor in Activision’s ability to market Star Trek games.
